Median rises at Tattersalls Autumn horses in training sale
A 33% increase in median and a high clearance rate sparked a solid opening session of the Tattersalls Ltd. autumn horses in training sale on Monday.
Topped by three-time winner Redford, the session closed with 231 horses from 280 offered reported as sold for $6,364,910 (3,717,300 guineas) and a clearance rate of 82.5%. While total receipts dipped 12.6% and average declined 11.1% to $27,553 (16,092 guineas), the median climbed 33.3% to $17,122 (10,000 guineas).
Bloodstock agent Stephen Hillen purchased Redford for $222,591 (130,000 guineas) to top day one.
Consigned by Fitzroy House Stables on behalf of Highclere Thoroughbred Racing, the four-year-old Bahri gelding is out of the Statoblest mare Ida Lupino, a half sister to Group 3 winner High Baroque. Redford’s second dam, the Northern Dancer mare Alpine Symphony, is a half sister to Irish classic winner and sire Nikoli (Ire).
Redford won three of 14 starts for previous trainer Michael Bell and finished fourth in the Toteswinger Sovereign Stakes (Eng-G3).
