Steroid tests on Eight Belles negative

The Kentucky Horse Racing Authority’s official laboratory at Iowa State University confirmed Friday that all of the horses tested in the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (G1) and the Kentucky Oaks (G1) came back with negative medication test results.

In addition, steroid tests for Derby runner-up Eight Belles came back as negative.

KHRA reported Thursday that the necropsy on Eight Belles concluded that she suffered compound fractures of both front legs at the fetlock joints. The necropsy was performed at the Livestock Disease Diagnostic Center at the University of Kentucky at the request of KHRA.
