Jockey Club expands horse identification services
The Jockey Club has enhanced its free tattoo identification services by adding access to its markings database to the tattoo research module.
The new markings database enables customers to obtain potential matches of registered Thoroughbreds based upon supplied identification characteristics.
“Providing access to our markings database was a natural first step to take, and one that should significantly improve the chances of successfully identifying tattooed but unknown Thoroughbreds,” Jockey Club President Alan Marzelli said.
The Jockey Club launched its free tattoo identification service in April to help owners identify their tattooed, yet unknown Thoroughbreds.
With this service, owners could use a free tattoo lookup feature available from The Jockey Club’s website. For illegible or partial tattoos, customer service representatives from The Jockey Club’s interactive registration platform can provide free research.
Since April, The Jockey Club has received more than 1,700 requests for tattoo identification and about 14,000 tattoo lookups performed directly by customers.
