Martin dismissed from Jackson’s Kentucky lawsuit

by Jeff Lowe

Bloodstock agent Brad Martin has been dismissed from a lawsuit alleging fraud related to Jess Jackson’s $17.5-million acquisition of the former Buckram Oak Farm in Lexington.

Michael Meuser, Martin’s attorney in Lexington, said Martin did not pay anything in exchange for the dismissal.

Richard Getty, a Lexington attorney who represents Jackson’s Stonestreet Farm, referred to the agreement as a settlement. Getty said Martin agreed to testify in deposition and/or in court.

“He was really a peripheral defendant in these proceedings,” Getty said. “Obviously, we wouldn’t have entered into a settlement unless we thought his testimony would potentially be helpful to us.”

The remaining defendants in the case are Buckram Oak Holdings N.V. and bloodstock agent Frederique Sauque.

“We hope to get a trial date before the end of the year,” Getty said.

Martin agreed to pay $250,000 last March in a settlement of a separate lawsuit Jackson filed in California against his former advisers.
