Bamburi scores authoritative victory in Group 1 debut
by Michael Burns
Bamburi solidified his status as one of Chile's top two-year-old colt’s on turf with an authoritative victory on Sunday in the Clasico Alberto Vial Infante (Chi-G1) at Club Hipico de Santiago.
Ridden confidently by Hector Berrios, the Dushyantor colt tracked comfortably in fourth early in his Group 1 debut before powering clear to a 1 ½-length triumph.
Group 2-placed winner Devenir closed ground late to finish second, just in front of Group 3 winner Muratore in the 12-horse field.
Trained by leading trainer Patricio Baeza, Bamburi covered 1,600 meters (7.95 furlongs) on firm turf in 1:34.67 for his second group stakes victory and third overall in seven career starts.
The winner of the Clasico El Estreno – Nicanor Señoret (Chi-G2) at Valparaiso Sporting Club on April 30, Bamburi entered off a narrow defeat on turf in the Clasico Stud Book de Chile (Chi-G2) on May 28.
Owned by Stud Zarabique and bred by Haras Paso Nevado, Bamburi is out of the Seeker’s Reward mare Brusela.
