Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa stocking up again in South America
After enjoying success with Argentinean-bred discoveries Asiatic Boy and Honour Devil, Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa al Maktoum has purchased South American Group 1 winner Cagnotte and Group 3 winner Indiscutible with an eye toward the 2008-’09 United Arab Emirates season.
Michael de Kock, the trainer of United Arab Emirates Derby (UAE-G2) winners Asiatic Boy and Honour Devil, will oversee the new acquisitions.
The three-year-old Sunray Spirit filly Cagnotte is unbeaten in two starts, including a six-length victory in the Gran Premio de Potrancas (Arg-G1) on May 24 at San Isidro.
Indiscutible, a three-year-old colt by Indy Dancer, won the Clasico Seleccion de Potrillos (Chi-G3) on March 15 at Hipodromo Chile.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa also purchased India Tiberina, a three-year-old Indy Dancer filly who won her only start by 10 ¾ lengths on March 22 at Hipodromo Chile.
Since they were bred on South American time, the trio would be eligible for the 2009 UAE Derby.
