My Pal Charlie retired to stud in Louisiana

Grade 2 winner My Pal Charlie has been retired and will stand the 2010 breeding season for a $3,000 fee at Elite Thoroughbreds in Folsom, Louisiana.

The four-year-old Indian Charlie colt out of the Halo mare Shahalo won the 2008 Super Derby (G2) at Louisiana Downs during a season in which posted three wins and two runner-up finishes in nine starts and $581,653 in earnings for owner B. Wayne Hughes.

Trained by Al Stall Jr., My Pal Charlie finished second or third in three stakes this season, including his runner-up finish in the Churchill Downs Stakes (G2) on May 2. He also finished third in the Prairie Meadows Cornhusker Handicap (G2) and the Commonwealth Stakes (G2) at Keeneland Race Course

Overall, My Pal Charlie won three races and placed five times in 20 starts and earned $762,519. He is a full brother to multiple graded stakes winner and sire Bwana Charlie and a half brother to Grade 3 winner Bwana Bull.
