WinStar reduces fees for four stallions
WinStar Farm has reduced the stud fees for four of its six returning stallions for 2010, including leading commercial sire Distorted Humor.
WinStar reduced Distorted Humor’s fee from $150,000 to $100,000. The 16-year-old by Forty Niner out of Grade 2 winner Danzig’s Beauty, by Danzig, is the sire of 79 stakes winners, including champion Funny Cide, 2005 Travers Stakes (G1) winner Flower Alley, two-time Whitney Handicap (G1) winner Commentator, and ‘07 Haskell Invitational Stakes (G1) winner Any Given Saturday, among others.
The fee for 2000 Horse of the Year Tiznow was unchanged at $75,000, as was the fee for 2004 champion sprinter Speightstown.
Tiznow, a 12-year-old by Cee’s Tizzy, is the sire of champions Folklore and Bear Now as well as 2009 Emirates Airline Dubai World Cup (UAE-G1) winner Well Armed and Grade 1 winners Colonel John, Tough Tiz’s Sis, Bullsbay, and Da’ Tara.
Second crop sire Speightstown, an 11-year-old by Gone West, is the sire of Group 1 winner Lord Shanakill and multiple graded stakes winner Munnings from his first crop.
Colonel John, winner of the 2008 Travers Stakes (G1) and Santa Anita Derby (G1), will stand his first season at stud for $15,000. He is out of the winning Turkoman mare Sweet Damsel.
