Mucho Verde first winner for Greenland
Lara Racing Stable’s Mucho Verde went immediately to the front and maintained a steady advantage to post a 2 ½-length length victory in the third race on Saturday at Hastings Race Course to become the first winner for freshman sire Greenland.
Trained by Juan Olmos, the chestnut colt completed the 3 ½-furlong maiden claiming race in :39.79 on a track rated as fast in his second career start. A half sister to stakes winner Lady Vye, Mucho Verde is out of the winning Beau Genius mare Immediate Answer.
An 11-year-old by Green Dancer out of the stakes-placed winning Sunny’s Halo mare Our Suzette, Greenland stood the 2009 breeding season for about $1,308 ($1,500 Canadian) at Fast Track Farms in Aldergrove, British Columbia. A half brother to Grade 2 winner and sire Mud Route, he has two two-year-olds in his first crop.
Greenland won three of 32 starts and earned $79,152 during three seasons.
