Seattle Slew’s son Council Member to stand in Calif.


Council Member, the last stakes winner by Seattle Slew, will begin his stud career in 2009 at Special T Thoroughbreds in Temecula, California.

The six-year-old horse out of Zoe Montana, by Seeking the Gold, will stand for $4,000.

Karen and Mickey Taylor retired Council Member this summer after he finished fifth in the Tom Fool Handicap (G2). He scored a pair of English stakes wins in 2005 for his previous owner, Godolphin Racing.

Bloodstock agent John Ferguson purchased Council Member as a weanling for $800,000 in the 2002 Keeneland November breeding stock sale.

Council Member won five of 24 career starts and earned $347,306.
