To The Point posts first win for classic winner Refuse To Bend

To The Point seized command with about three furlongs remaining in her career debut on Monday at Warwick and drove clear to a 2 1/2-length victory to become the first career winner for English classic winner Refuse To Bend (Ire).

Trained by E. S. McMahon for owner John Fretwell, the bay filly completed five furlongs in 1:04.68 on turf rated as soft. To The Point is out of the winning Diesis (GB) mare Be Decisive.

Refuse To Bend is an eight-year-old by Sadler’s Wells out of the Grade 3-placed Gulch mare Market Slide, the Broodmare of the Year in 2002. A full brother to Group 2-placed winner Domestic Fund (Ire) and a half brother to Group 1 winner Media Puzzle, Refuse To Bend stands for $30,982 (20,000 euros) in Ireland at Kildangan Stud. He has 88 two-year-olds in his first crop.

Refuse To Bend won the Aga Khan Studs National Stakes (Ire-G1) as a juvenile and scored a three-quarter-length victory in the 2003 Sagitta Two Thousand Guineas (Eng-G1). He won seven of 15 career starts, including four Group 1 races, and earned $1,350,034 in four seasons.
