Nobiz Like Shobiz, the 2007 Wood Memorial Stakes (G1) winner, will begin his stud career in ’09 at Darby Dan Farm in Lexington.
No stud fee has been announced. Elizabeth Valando owns the four-year-old Albert the Great colt out of Nightstorm, by Storm Cat.
Nobiz Like Shobiz scored graded stakes wins on dirt in the Wood Memorial, Remsen (G2), and Holy Bull (G3) Stakes and on turf in the Jamaica Handicap (G2), National Museum of Racing Fall of Fame Stakes (G2), and Kent Breeders’ Cup Stakes (G3). He finished fourth in the 2007 NetJets Breeders’ Cup Mile (G1).
“He is attractive to a very broad spectrum of breeders,” Darby Dan owner John Phillips said. “His size, precociousness and adaptability to all surfaces will make him very popular.”
Valando decided to retire Nobiz Like Shobiz this spring after trainer Barclay Tagg determined that the colt would not be ready for this year’s Breeders’ Cup after being sidelined with a minor ailment.
Nobiz Like Shobiz won seven of 13 career starts and earned $1,544,730.
