Thunderello, Monashee Mountain relocate to Diamond F

Grade 1-placed stakes winner Thunderello and multiple Group 3 winner Monashee Mountain will both stand the 2008 season at Diamond F Ranch in Grass Valley, California. Each stallion will stand for $5,000.

Thunderello, an eight-year-old Montbrook horse out of On the Square, by In Reality, has sired 35 winners from 60 starters in two crops of racing age. His progeny have earned $1,129,271 through Monday.

In two seasons, he secured three wins and three runner-up finishes from seven career starts for owner Charles Mady and trainer Scott Lake.

Thunderello won the 2002 Gallant Bob Handicap in his stakes debut and finished second in the ’02 NAPA Breeders’ Cup Sprint (G1) at Arlington Park. He earned $388,400.

Bred in Florida by Four Horsemens Ranch, Thunderello stood the 2007 season at Walmac Farm.

A ten-year-old Danzig horse, Monashee Mountain is the sire of 147 winners—including Group 1 winner La Montagna and Group 3 winner Le Giare—from 267 starters. Through Monday, he has sired eight stakes winners. His progeny have earned $6,425,223.

Monashee Mountain won four of seven career starts, including the 2000 Desert King E.B.F. Tetrarch (Ire-G3) Stakes and the 1999 Killavullan Stakes (Aus-G3). He earned $110,117.

Campaigned by Michael Tabor and Susan Magnier and trained by Aidan O’Brien, Monashee Mountain is out of multiple Grade 1 winner Prospectors Delite. He is a half brother to 2003 Horse of the Year and sire Mineshaft and multiple Grade 1 winner Tomisue’s Delight. He previously stood at Ashford Stud.
